We believe that the simple things can be the most meaningful in life. Families don't need exotic vacations or flashy homes to be close-knit; kids don't need ipads or massive amounts of toys to be happy; children don't need expensive supplies or curricula to be educated. Our philosophy in everything rests on the belief that simple things are beautiful and meaningful.
Our budget for home renovations is a pittance compared to the budgets of bloggers on most DIY sites. But we're making it a welcoming place where we live our lives and friends gather together. Our kids don't have as many toys as their friends, and the toys they own are simple, not high-tech. But they play creatively with things like blocks and costumes and art supplies. Our food is also low-tech: produce grown on a local farm that uses horses instead of tractors, bread that's simply flour, salt and water, nothing from a laboratory.
We're a family who try to live each day with joy. As we go through our days, we have fun and learn from mistakes. Some days are full of chaos, but we try to take those ones in stride!
